The BDDL was established in 1951, by Mr D Hewlett, B Putman, J Funnell, A Pickering, & B Hill, the secretary then was Mr W Caselton.
The league celebrated its 50th year in the 2001/2002 season.
The league then comprised of 2 divisions, but has now fallen to just 1.
